“To err is human; to forgive, divine.” – unknown
Forgiveness can also be hard. My wife forgave me over the weekend when I was short with her…I apologized, and she said, “Apology accepted.”
She did not owe me that. Forgiveness was her choice, and I had no call to expect it as a matter of right.
But what if the issue were far more serious? What if I were…I’ll say it here…would she forgive me?
I don’t know, but I do know that all the groveling I could do, after a sincere “I’m sorry” would not help.
It would come down to her choice.
And that is what forgiveness is. A choice.
How do you make the choice to forgive?
Please stop by my other blog, Blessed Are the Pure of Heart. The current post is “So I Married A Sniper“.

Forgiveness is a choice. And sometimes it is seems like the hard choice, but I have learned holding on to bitterness and unforgiveness in the end is the harder choice. I am lucky to have an amazing husband who chooses to forgive when I stumble over and over.

Pity there is only a “Like” button, and not a “Love”.,
I loved you comment, and with your last sentence you have brought a tear to the eye of a rather grim Mongolian paramilitary.
Needed that, I guess. Live in the desert. Eyes get dry, right?

Great post. It isn’t an easy thing to walk in forgiveness. But when I look at how Jesus forgave ALL, even the ones who didn’t ask for it, I am humbled and thankful and must remember to forgive. Blessings to you for your post (coming over from Tuesday at Ten)

Rebekah, thank you so much!
it is hard to follow Jesus’ example; even with constant reminders of the need, I still have a LOT of trouble with it!

Yes, forgiveness IS a choice; and I choose to forgive…it isn’t always easy; and it doesn’t come quickly either. But, eventually I can forgive – eventually!
Thanks for sharing!

Eventually…yes. Fortunately, we’ve got the watches, but God’s got the TIME.
Thanks for stopping by, Barbara. Blessings!
