“To err is human; to forgive, divine.” – unknown

Forgiveness can also be hard. My wife forgave me over the weekend when I was short with her…I apologized, and she said, “Apology accepted.”

She did not owe me that. Forgiveness was her choice, and I had no call to expect it as a matter of right.

But what if the issue were far more serious? What if I were…I’ll say it here…would she forgive me?

I don’t know, but I do know that all the groveling I could do, after a sincere “I’m sorry” would not help.

It would come down to her choice.

And that is what forgiveness is. A choice.

How do you make the choice to forgive?
