“U2 albums never get finished. They just get released.” – The Edge

We all have images of marriages at some point of completion – they are given to us by movies, television, and books, and by the marriages we see around us.

But these pictures are very incomplete. In the entertainment media, we see a story arc, and it has to land somewhere to be satisfying.

In the real-life examples we see, we’re only allowed the public view, where the finished product of countless private hours is displayed.

And be sure of this – what’s on display isn’t a finished product. It’s just released to the public, so to speak, like a U2 album, because, well, life has to go on.

There’s no completion. There’s no arrival. There’s only the road.

The road we share.
