“Every great mistake has a halfway moment, a split second when it can be recalled and perhaps remedied.” – Pearl S. Buck
This is so true in marriage, particularly when conflict arises. There is always the moment when one is about to say something truly damaging, taking advantage of the inside knowledge of the vulnerabilities in the soul of one’s spouse…
There is that moment when one can stop, and say, “I’m sorry. I don’t want to do this. I love you.”
In trauma care there is the Golden Hour, when a badly wounded patient has the best chance for survival. It can’t be squandered.
Neither can the Golden Second.
