You don’t win an argument in marriage, the way you scored points for your debating team in high school. You can verbally bludgeon your mate into giving up and giving in, but that’s not a “debate victory”. It’s more like a mugging.
Resolution to an argument comes with the desire to give your mate peace, happiness, and the feeling of being loved. There’s no agenda besides compassion, no ulterior motive beyond love.
Fights begin in the self-aggrandizing roar of the ego; they end in the quiet warmth of the heart.
Starting The Day With Grace 
Love the wisdom here. You could win an argument like you mention in the beginning…but you would surely not win in the end. Most certainly not in God’s eyes.
